Early character concept for Tezcatlipoca, an important Aztec trickster god associated with the night sky, obsidian, dark magic and the jaguar. He was known as the Smoking Mirror, Possessor of the Sky and Earth, the Sower of Discord, Two Reed, Night Wind, and He by whom we live. He appeared most frequently as a smoking shape-shifter with black hair, a yellow band across his face and an obsidian mirror on his chest.
